THANK YOU
The reception and funeral service for Firefighter Cletus Ritzenthaler was phenomenal. The outpouring of family, friends, firefighters, food, and help made me proud to be a Henrico Firefighter. We witnessed a department healing and coming together. A challenge is extended to everyone to think about family, friends, and firefighters. This is the theme that Cletus would want each of us to remember. We must take the time to focus on our families, friendships, and cultivate our relationships in these parts of our lives.
This event came together in just four days. It can not be considered complete without thanking the people who helped from beginning to end. Our first thank you goes to the membership of the Henrico Firefighters Association Local 1568 for providing the funding for this event. Our second thank you is long. We want to thank everyone who prepared or provided paper products, covered dishes, desserts, drinks, or helped with the reception. This feat could not have happened without the food preparation help of the Hanover Firefighters Local 4202 (Setup, food preparation, and serving), Toms Meats and Produce (providing the pork at cost), Hill Billy Reds Restaurant (cooking the pork), The Halligan Bar and Restaurant (Eric and Shawn for providing the signature sauce) Tuckahoe Volunteer Rescue Squad (Pam, John, and the members for picking up and providing food), Lifeline Ambulance (Chuck Colfax and the use of the Excursion), Deborah Wilmoth (details and creative eye), Arleen Samuels (details and creative eye), Sandston Baptist Church Kitchen Committee (Bill Blaylock), and the spouses of many other DOF members who pitched in to keep us going in the right direction. A special thanks to all personnel who arrived early and stayed late to assist with the setup and cleanup details. It is impossible for me to remember everyone who came up to ask, “Can I help?” You all were the best and we know you helped. The remainder of the food was disseminated to stations throughout the County and provided to the family for a dinner meal later that night. We wish we could have provided dinner for every on duty firefighter that day.
Again….THANK YOU!!

Extra! Extra! Read All About It!!! Henrico Collects Record
|
Press Release: Extra! Extra! Read all about it!!! Henrico Fire Hits MDA Record
Near Richmond, Virginia:
The Henrico Firefighters are on a mission to collect "$50,000 for Fred" during this years Fill the Boot campaign. Local 1568 3rd Vice President T.C. Moore made this a personal goal to raise the funds needed to honor one of our own. Lt. Fred Parker died this spring of ALS (Lou Gerhigs Disease). This disease takes the strong to weak. Fred was strong mentally to the end. It really is humbling and heart breaking to see how these diseases take the physical strength from children and adults. This hit close to home and motivated our members to make it happen.
We are proud to announce that we have collected our $57,301. This is a record for our local and doubles our collections from last year. MDA is our kind of charity and we are proud to honor Fred.
We would like to thank all of our citizens, Henrico Firefighters, Fire Chief Edwin Smith, Lt. T.C. Moore, McGeorge Toyota, Wal-Mart, Gold's Gym, Ukrop's, Kmart, Valero, Garden Ridge, The Pump Pour House, Innsbrook After Hours, Food Lion, Firehouse Subs, Great Clips, and all the Fill the Boot locations in Henrico County, Virginia for the great support and help they provided during this years campaign.
